a square mind
cannot offer flight
from failure, yet
“To become, or to...”
that is the only
question, and
the answer burns
(brightly), attentively
on the horizon--
while even these four
walls
bleed gray
and weep for yesterday,
today I still
believe—
know—
the best, the only, isn’t a
rhythm
but a clock—
a fireball—
!screaming!
at the clif
f
of an i n f i n i t e
and swelling
universe—
ticking
now
Being of
no-nature
he sometimes felt
naked
but mostly
ached liked
an october hill-
side
slowly dying, hardwoods
-swaying-
leaves crackling in
their red-ness
eyes burning with
regret
as beings
scattered, preparing
for imminent winter
and
“I’m sorry” no longer
flew
in formation
with the same
grace-
gone,
perhaps,
for another season.
