Execution

I hear your
name
in the cock's
crow.
I pierce the
sun
with the sword
you used
when I was
crucified.
The scar on my
side
is the shape of
your smile.

Theriomorph

Murmuring waves of desire
lick at my boots
as I step into the shadows,
my luster gone,
my teeth freshly sharpened.

The Party to Celebrate the Unfolding

And I dedicated my reading
to my father, who did not live
long
enough to see my book.
He sat there, pale but
unwavering.
My words spread out like
a stain. When the people clapped
my father half-rose from
his chair. He thought it was over.
He thought it was all over.
